Como puede que algunos sepáis, yo hago estos ¨floppy bookies¨ -

un producto a caballo entre lo ecológicamente responsable y lo tecno friky.

Al principio los hacía con viejos floppies que tenía yo por casa, pero a medida que se empezaron a vender en etsy.com y de que veía que me iba quedando sin floppies tuve que ir a buscar floppies en las tiendas.

Ayer, fui a Fnac, esa cadena europea … y no los encuentro en el estante de los consumibles. Sólo tenían:

.cds y dvds

.cintas de audio (también conocidas como cassettes)

.cintas de vídeo

-¨hola, ¿aún vendéis floppies?¨

-¨¿eso qué es?

-¨sí, antes de los cds, se usaban unos discos magnéticos que iban dentro de una funda de plástico cuadrada¨

-¨lo siento, tendrás que preguntar a los de consumibles, porque yo soy de informática¨.

El chico de la sección de consumibles me dice que están totalmente ´out` … y me lanza mirada … y yo le digo algo así como ¨es que es para un proyecto de arte y reciclaje¨

Conclusión:

.ya no se venden floppies porque la generación digital tiende a actualizarse y deprisa

.las cintas de audio y vídeo todavía se venden porque la generación analógica todavía vive en la generación analógica.

I started using my own old floppy disks and as the product started to sell well in etsy.com and as I was running out of my old floppies I had to actually go and try to buy floppies.

Yesterday, I go to Fnac, this European franchise ... and cannot find them in the storage products shelf. They only had:

.cds & dvds

.cassette tapes

.vhs tapes

-¨do you carry floppy disks?¨

-¨what is that?

-¨yes, before the cds came out, we used magnetic disks that came inside a plastic square case¨

-sorry, you´ll have to ask the people in the consumable department, I am from the informatics department, sorry I can´t help you.

The clerk from the consumables section tells me they are so out of floppies ... and his face ... and I just said something like ¨well, I want it for an art and recycling project ...

Conclusion:

.the floppies are out because the digital generations tend to update themselves and quickly

.the audio and vhs tapes are still in stock because the analogue generation is still living in the analogue generation ...
